Tips for Common Dental Emergencies
Until you can come in to see us for emergency care, here are three common types of dental emergencies and how to address them:
-
Knocked-out or chipped teeth — The quicker you can come into the practice for care, the more likely we’ll be able to preserve your tooth. Until you arrive, place your tooth in a sealed container, submerged in milk.
-
Broken filling, crown or bridge — Be careful not to use your tooth to bite or chew with, as such pressure could result in additional breakage.
-
Toothache — Apply a cold compress to the outside of the cheek near the area of your tooth discomfort. You also can rinse your mouth with tepid salt water and take an anti-inflammatory.
